Bio

Deanna Barath is a PhD student in the Department of Health Services Administration, School of Public Health, at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research interests include (1) health policy development and implementation, particularly in regards to minority health disparities (2) healthcare access and utilization, especially concerning vulnerable populations; (3) the integration of behavioral and physical health; and (4) the role local health departments and community organizations in population health. Recently, Deanna has been part of research teams that conducted Community Health Needs Assessments in Maryland’s Mid-shore region; evaluated veterans health insurance access pre and post ACA; assessed how Local Health Departments’ can reduce the 30-day all-cause readmission rate; and examined how mental health services can reduce suicide ideation hospitalizations for those with substance use disorders.
